David Ekstrom grew up in Elgin Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Early in his life David had a growing desire to serve where he could throughout his life. He attended a Catholic schools and served as an Alter Boy thru grade school. After high school David served an apprenticeship as a tool and die maker machinist.
David attended Triton College in River Forest IL. He studied machine tool technology and trigonometry. In 1975 David bought a small trucking business and operated it until 2003. He enjoyed traveling in all of the lower 48 states hauling building and mining materials and supplies.
In 2003 David attended Ogden Weber Applied Technology College studying CNC machining. Late in 2003 David started to work for the State of Utah at the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control as a Liquor Store Manager. This assignment has expanded to overseeing and managing 3 stores with annual sales exceeding $30 million dollars.
In 2007 David became a member of Community United Methodist Church in Washington Terrace, UT. He was drawn to this particular Methodist Church after witnessing the love and compassion to many brothers and sisters in the Ogden area. Since joining CUMC David has served on the Fellowship committee and Chairman of the Care Ministry. He enjoys visiting the sick and elderly in the community. Recently he accepted a call to serve as chairman of Family Promise for CUMC. His responsibilities include overseeing his congregation’s participation in Family Promise as a host congregation. For the past several years David has taken countless days off of his work volunteering at The Lantern House, a shelter for the homeless in his community. David has deep compassion for those who need help and hopes that his most recent assignment as a Ogden Family Promise Board member, might make a difference in the lives of the families that he serves.
David is married to Joy Ekstrom. They have two Children. In his spare time he likes to play golf, hike and bike.
